Sälen is a fantastic destination for a family ski holiday full of adventure and relaxation. Sälen offers beautiful accommodations, scenic slopes and exciting activities. Discover Sälen, the largest ski resort in Sweden!
Sälen consists of four villages: Lindvallen, Högfjället, Tandådalen and Hundfjället. Lindvallen and Högfjället are connected by a lift, Tandådalen and Hundfjället as well. Additionally, a ski bus runs between the villages…
Lindvallen is Sälen's largest ski area. It offers one of the largest contiguous ski areas for children and beginners in Europe. With accommodations like the SkiStar Lodge and Timmerbyn, along with amenities such as a pool, a spa and multiple restaurants, Lindvallen is the perfect destination for families. Most slopes are green or red, making it perfect for families who want to ski together.
Lindvallen offers a fun ride with jumps and boxes, that is suitable for all ages and skill levels. In the children's area around the Sparven lift, there is a park with jumps and boxes for beginners.
Högfjället is Sälen's smallest ski area, featuring mainly green and blue slopes. This area is perfect for families looking for wide slopes with plenty of space for long turns. The 3 drag lifts take skiers and snowboarders to the top of Högfjället. All ski runs converge at the same spot, making it easy for families to stay together.
Tandådalen offers 2 ski areas, the peaceful east side with wide slopes and the largest snow park, and the more challenging part around Tandådalstorget. Thanks to the lift, you can get from Tandådalen to Hundfjället.
Hundfjället is popular with families with young children. With many slopes in different directions and difficulty levels, Hundfjället offers something for everyone. Here, you'll also find the Trollskogen adventure forest and the beginner's area, Trollbäckstorget. The SkiStar Lodge, with a focus on comfort and relaxation, offers high-standard, cozy accommodations right by the slopes.
The lifts are generally open from the beginning of the season until the first week of February from 09.00 to 15.30 hrs, after that week to 16.30 hrs. For those who want more, there is morning and evening skiing. The ski pass is also valid for one day in Trysil, the largest ski resort in Norway, just a 45-minute drive away. Many guests go skiing here and book a dog sledding trip!
A very attractive option is the ferry crossing from Kiel to Oslo. This relaxed way of traveling gives you the flexibility to bring more luggage and follow your own schedule. It's a fantastic trip, which we can book for you at a discount. From Oslo, it's about a 3-hour drive to Sälen. Do you prefer to fly? You can rent a car at Oslo Gardermoen and it's another 2.5 hours to Sälen.
